The much-hyped million dollar Indian Premier League got off to a kickstart on Friday evening. Following the enchanting opening ceremony, was a battle between the Kolkata Knight Riders and the Royal Challengers Bangalore, wherein the Challengers posed no real challenge to the on-fire Knight Riders.
Indian Premier League is a great concept to bridge barriers and melt boundaries.
Perhaps, cricketers don't get so many opportunities to interact with players of the other team(s) when on a tour. And this is where IPL scores.
It was a heartwarming sight to see Ricky Ponting congratulating Ishant Sharma when he took Dravid's wicket, Ishant acknowledging David Hussey's good fielding, Saurav Ganguly celebrating with Ponting, Ponting praising Kiwi Brendon McCullum's grand feat,..................So many beautiful moments. It's also a wonderful platform for domestic cricketers who get a taste of big time cricket.
It's just the beginning of the 44 day extravaganza, and at this stage it is impossible to say who will go on to win. I feel that the team which gels the best and plays together will win the first edition of the DLF IPL.
IPL, Rock On !!!
