Conversations with God

As you got up this
morning, I watched you
and hoped you would
talk to me, even if just a
few words, asking my
opinion or thanking me
for something good that
happened in your life
yesterday. But you were
too busy, trying to find
the right outfit to wear

When you ran around
he house getting ready,
I knew there would be a
few minutes for you to
stop and say hello, but
you were too busy to do
so………At one point for
15
minutes you had nothing
to do- you ran to the
phone and called a friend
to get the latest gossip…

I noticed that before
lunch you looked
around, and I thought
may be you felt embarrassed
to talk to me, that is
why you didn’t bow
your head. You glanced
three or four tables over
and you noticed some of
your friends talking to me
briefly before they
ate, but you didn’t.
But there is still more time
left, and I hope that you
will talk to me yet

You went home and after
a few chores you turned
on the television set
I waited patiently again as you
watched TV and
ate your meal, but again
you didn’t talk to me.
Bedtime I guess you felt
too tired. After you said
good night to your family
you got into bed and
promptly feel asleep……
You know, I’ve got
patience, more than
you will ever know.

I love you so much that
I wait everyday for a nod,
prayer or thought. It is
hard to have a one-sided
“conversation”. Well,
you are getting up once
again. And once again
I will wait, with nothing
but love for you.
Hoping that today you
will give me some time.

Have a nice day !!

I found this piece somewhere. Beautiful, isn’t it?

Back Home !!!!

It feels great to be back in action. The grahapravesam function went off well and I enjoyed myself thoroughly in the past week, going shopping and getting a haircut !!

Usually, quite a bit of thought goes into each of my posts and I try make them as “readable” as I can ! This post has been written just as an account of my trip, and forgive me if it sounds random and disoriented in some places !

This was the first time I flew at night, a beautiful sight !! Pieces of gold and silver scattered carelessly across different cities made for a gorgeous sight. The moon shone brilliantly across the sky, as if protecting the sleeping cities underneath.

The next day was shopping day. We had to buy the samagri for the function, and Gandhi Bazaar was the perfect place. Sweet smell from variety of fruits and flowers were pleasing to the nose, though the shouting vendors were not so kind on the ears. After a long day in the heat, we returned home and instantly, all of us went off to sleep.

The D-day was here. The house looked beautiful at 2:45 a.m., the muhurtam was at 4:30 a.m. You get to see the sunrise from our house, the orange ball of fire, coming up slowly from amidst the trees.

Soon it was time to bid our goodbyes, and we headed for the airport to catch the flight back home.

We traveled by a popular low cost airline. Earlier they would serve us small bottles of water, and now, to further cut down the cost they serve water in small glasses, and that too not to everyone, only if you ask for it.

A ‘gentleman’ who was seated in front of me asked for water 7 times during the entire 2 hour 20 minute long flight and every time the pretty airhostess served him with the usual plastic smile. On an average, he feels thirsty every 20 minutes (bet my maths is good ;).

Come to think of it, he has quite some thirst !!!

That’s about my trip. Tell me what you have been upto all this while ?

IPL, Rock On!!

The much-hyped million dollar Indian Premier League got off to a kickstart on Friday evening. Following the enchanting opening ceremony, was a battle between the Kolkata Knight Riders and the Royal Challengers Bangalore, wherein the Challengers posed no real challenge to the on-fire Knight Riders.

Indian Premier League is a great concept to bridge barriers and melt boundaries.

Perhaps, cricketers don't get so many opportunities to interact with players of the other team(s) when on a tour. And this is where IPL scores.

It was a heartwarming sight to see Ricky Ponting congratulating Ishant Sharma when he took Dravid's wicket, Ishant acknowledging David Hussey's good fielding, Saurav Ganguly celebrating with Ponting, Ponting praising Kiwi Brendon McCullum's grand feat,..................So many beautiful moments. It's also a wonderful platform for domestic cricketers who get a taste of big time cricket.

It's just the beginning of the 44 day extravaganza, and at this stage it is impossible to say who will go on to win. I feel that the team which gels the best and plays together will win the first edition of the DLF IPL.

IPL, Rock On !!!

Destiny's Child

There is this girl I know
Who puts up a brave show

A sportswoman by heart

Until her voice did depart

She shrieked and jumped

and twirled around;

but now she makes no sound

She used to shout "what the heck?"

Now walks with a scarf around her neck
Dad, ran she to meet him afloat

On the way a string cut her throat

Three times did she win the best

sportsperson award;

For her hardwork and consistence

she got the reward

She used to say,

"We all have to die one day"

And I would wonder

At her age so tender

Yet giving philosophical prophecies

and handling them with such ease
She does inspire

A passion, a desire

To pursue what feels right

Without any guilt or fright

Always full of cheer

A beautiful mind, so clear

Dazzling as a diamond was she

In search of her destiny

She came back to school, after a long absence

I watched her, in reverence, from a distance

She did smile as any other day

Oh God! May all good things in life come her way
The head that has bowed to none
Bows to you the special one

Hats off girl! Hats off !!

(The above poem is based on a true incident, although with certain modifications. It's perhaps one of my best pieces, and written for one of my very dear friends :)

Hi
Sorry for not posting for so long. I have been busy doing nothing, literally. Main aur meri TV aksar baatein kiya kartein hain, except it's the TV that does all the talking.

To make my life a little 'more' interesting, I have been making a scrapbook. Digging up old stuff to find interesting items has been real fun. My scrapbook has all sorts of things- my photos arranged in a chronological sequence, the wrapper of my first Ferrero Rocher, my school identity cards, the kiddish poems I ever wrote, my favourite quotes, an article on Irfan Pathan which has the headline "Bowling maiden overs and bowling maidens over", the first day first show ticket of Saawariya, pictures of my favourite celebs, birthday cards,................

Making a scrapbook is a great idea. It not only makes you relive those precious moments, also they are preserved for the future. It's almost like leaving a legacy behind, for the whole world to see. Ten years down the line, it would be beautiful to see how you've evolved and matured through the years.
So, go on and capture those wonderful moments and things of your life and I can assure you, it will be worth it !!
I also want to try my hands on other hobbies. Any suggestions?
