My Child!

Time moved slowly
My breath was heavy
Sitting on the bench outside
Waiting, and waiting
The glowing red bulb
only added to my agony

With every shriek
with every cry
My heart bled
"Hope she's fine"
I prayed
"Yes. She is."
I reaffirmed.

The wait was over
A lady in white
pressed my shoulder
"Congratulations! It's a girl!"
Ah! The sweetness!
Those words chimed in my ear.

I ran inside
The relief, the happiness
the excitement of a little child
merging seamlessly
forming a heady concoction
of ecstasy.

There was the girl
I loved the most
and beside her
was the little angel
A piece of paradise
wrapped in white.

She was the most precious to me
I loved her now even more
Respected her even more
Worshiped her even more
Because she has become
A mother. A creator.

She lay calm
Peace, joy, relief
Wonder, jubilation, content
danced on her face
as she closed her eyes
to soak in the nectar.

I looked at the little angel
Felt the higher power around
"Gone on her father" I smiled
"The same sharp nose, and
the same small eyes"
The gentleman nodded proudly.

Hearing my voice
the girl opened her eyes
Those fulfilled eyes
"Papa" she whispered
There, she is my daughter
Ah! The sweetness engulfs me!

My friends did it too...

On the way to college

In the bus
Bought a five rupee ticket,
Not seven
"Wow! Saved two rupees!
My friends did it too!"

Danced my way to college
Knew there was a test
"Ah! No worry! I have chits!
My friends did it too!"

Aced the test
Felt jubilant
Sweet talked someone
Into a favour
"Great! It worked!
My friends did it too!"

Flipped my way back home
"Saved another two rupees!
Brilliant collections for a first timer!
I am so excited!
My friends did it too!"

Walked in with my souvenirs
Two five rupee tickets,
A chit with scribbled answers,
And
The notes of the class topper.
Feeling thrilled
A sense of achievement, almost.

Stuck the tickets
On the mirror
"The first day's loot!"
I said, smiled.
"My friends did it too!"

I looked at the person
I cared about the most
She looked at me
And sneered.

I had done it too.

An impromptu piece, written this morning, completely unedited. I can't think of a proper title for it...help needed! And no, it's not on me, it's not on anyone. Just a random thought. Please don't stone me for this! : )

Huh! Finally!

Am back! With not quite a bang! Finally my exams got over yesterday and a bad internet connection stopped me from blogging. But incessant phone calls to the internet wale uncle did the trick!

Exams went off decently well, two of them were good, the rest, never mind!

A very belated Happy New Year to all you guys! And will check your blogs ASAP! There's lot to catch up on! : )

And wrote this little piece during one of the exams...during those 3 hours!

The lone eagle
Flying up above
Like a string less kite
No bondage. No ties.

For in the world of blue,
Those who fly alone are few.

I couldn't quite complete it, so any of you who'd like to contribute are welcome.

My sister's wedding has been fixed for the May 15, in between my main exams! And because the date has been fixed by the traditional horoscope method, there is no scope of postponing it too! Humph! : (
